This Privacy Policy explains how The Dealio ("Dealio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Dealio mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up, we collect your phone number, and your name if you provide one. We use your phone number to create and secure your account and to send one-time verification codes.
- Location and region. We collect the region (city or campus) you select so we can show you relevant deals. If you grant permission, we may also use your device's approximate location to surface nearby deals. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
- Activity on the Service. We collect information about how you use the app, such as deals you view, deals you redeem, businesses you request, and referrals you make.
- Device and notification data. To deliver push notifications, we store a push token associated with your device. We may also collect basic device and app information needed to operate and troubleshoot the Service.
How we use your information
- To create your account, verify your phone number, and keep the Service secure.
- To show you relevant local deals and let you redeem them.
- To send notifications about new, limited-time, or nearby deals.
- To operate our referral and rewards features.
- To understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host the Service, send SMS verification codes, and deliver push notifications. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services.
- Participating businesses. When you redeem a deal, the business can confirm the redemption. We share redemption and aggregate activity information with businesses so they can honor and measure their offers; we do not share your contact details with them unless you ask us to.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Dealio.
Location data
Location access is optional and used to show you nearby deals. You can use Dealio with just a selected region. If you grant device location permission, you can revoke it at any time in your device settings without losing access to the rest of the app.
Push notifications
We send notifications about deals and account activity. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings for the Dealio app.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, then delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, unless we're required to keep it longer to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
Your choices and rights
- Access or deletion. You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time from the app (Profile → Delete Account) or on our account deletion page. You can also ask us to access or delete your data by emailing support@thedealio.org.
- Notifications. Manage push notifications in your device settings.
- Location. Manage location permission in your device settings.
Children's privacy
Dealio is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be communicated in the app.
